Lifetime Basketball Goals
Why is Lifetime one of the biggest names in Basketball goals? Because they build the best basketball systems around! By combining high quality components and a range of styles to choose from, you are sure to find a Lifetime basketball goal to fit your yard. To help you find the right basketball system for your yard some of the features, pros and cons for each style are listed below. Regardless of which you ultimately choose, your basketball goal will provide basketball fun for years to come.
In-Ground
Provides maximum stability because the base is cemented into the ground. A ground sleeve is often used to protect the post from corrosion while in the ground and allows the post to be taken down for storage during the off season or to free up some ground space.
Pros: Very stable. The perfect system for slam dunks. Many have height adjusting mechanisms.
Cons: May require a professional to get the post set correctly during installation. Can be inconvenient to move during the off season.
Wall-Mount
This style offers great stability when mounted correctly. Best when mounted to a wall, or the side of a building. I suggest using a backboard mounting kit to maximize stability.
Pros:
Can be very stable when mounted correctly. Keeps ground area clear (no post).
Cons:
Can damage structure that it is mounted to if improperly installed. Cannot adjust height of the backboard. Backboard is more likely to wear out from exposure to elements because moving it every season is not very practical.
Portable
Offers the ultimate combination of convenience and portability. The post is mounted to a hollow base that can be filled with sand or water. These bases can be easily filled and drained, and many have wheels attached so that the whole system can be easily rolled while the base is full or empty. The base is made of durable, expandable, leak-proof plastic that will not break even when the base is full of water and freezes solid.
Pros:
Easy to transport, especially if the base has wheels. Base is easy to fill and empty. Height can be easily adjusted.
Cons:
Not as sturdy as in ground and wall mounted systems. (Go a bit easier on the slam dunks.)
